    Do you have any experience with broadband absorber with metal plate inside? I`ve found an document by P. Brandstätt, H.V. Fuchs, M. Roller from Fraunhofer-Institut für Bauphysik (IBP) (Germany) about "Novel silencers and absorbers for wind tunnels and acoustic test cells". They write about Compound Baffle Absorber (CBA) and Broadband Compact Absorber (BCA) which was later used by RPG to make Modex plate absorber. I`m curious is it possible to mix the quality of mineral-wool based wide-band absorber with resonant plate to gain even better low-frequency absorption.

    ^^^ I don't have any direct experience with that type of absorber. My understanding is RPG's Modex Plate works like the wood panel traps in my Build a Better Bass Trap article. In that case the backing behind the plate acts as a spring for the sound waves, instead of a sealed air cavity. But I'm afraid that's the extent of my knowledge!
